Sewing:Work Skirt

Recently, I made myself a work skirt.  It is not fancy, but is suitable for outside.  I made it, thinking it would be perfect.  After all, I made it myself!  Turns out, it didn't fit so well.  When I walked, the skirt was tight around my legs.  So.......

I ripped it apart!  I had made a front and a back piece so that was no problem.
I added in two triangular pieces which looked like this:

The finished product:

Note- I made it with some leftover fabric that is see-through.
Therefore, I always wear something under it.

Sewing:Tool Belt

Hello!  One of my recent projects was a tool belt for a little boy as a gift.

What I did-

1.      Found suitable fabric in my fabric stash. I choose a tan frog print and some leftover denim

2.      Sewed two of the frog print pieces together

3.      Sewed the other two frog print pieces together

4.      Rounded off the two bottom corners of both pieces

5.      Cut two inches off one of the pieces

6.      Cut the denim into two inch strips

7.      Ironed the denim to make the trim

8.      Attached some of the trim to the top of the smaller frog print piece

9.      Sewed the smaller frog print piece on top of the larger frog print piece

10.  Sewed lines through both pieces to create pockets

11.  Attached the trim

12.  Made the ties with the extra fabric from step 5

13.  Attached the ties

Baking

I'll take a break from all my sewing posts and tell you about one of my latest baking projects. :)

Recently my little brother turned 10!
Baseball is one of his hobbies and he was so thrilled to see the cake.  Mom and I tried to keep it a secret and we managed fairly well......

The cake is a double layer 9 inch round cake.

Funny thing about the frosting: We had a few of his friends over and once they looked at the cake they asked who made it.  I said that I had made it and one of the boys said, "Well that's why it is pink!"  It turns out that the "stitches" were a reddish-pink!  I could not get the white frosting to turn red!

Bible Gateway

Sorry I'm so late!

I have been using Bible Gateway  for a while, but have just discovered that you can sign up for a reading plan for the Bible that is delivered right to your e-mail!  There is generally 2 chapters from the Old Testament, and a half of a chapter from the New Testament.

I am working on Exodus and Matthew right now.

Exodus- The rules for making the Tabernacle and priests' garments

Matthew- Parables

What have you read in the Bible lately?

Shopping Trip

Mom and I went shopping recently and here's what I got:

Some more sewing machine needles

Some Christmas fabric and ribbon.

A three piece cutting set.
It has a rotary cutter, a self-healing cutting mat, and an acrylic ruler.  The straight and angled lines are awesome.  $55 dollors normal price, but I had a coupon for 50% off on one item so it was only $27.50.  I was SO needing this.  : )

Philippians 3 & John 15

In Sunday School my youth pastor challenged us to read Philippians 3 and John 15.  So I did.

Philippians is a letter written to the people of Philippi by Paul.  Chapter 3 has two parts: No Confidence in the Flesh and Following Paul's Example.  Verses 1-14 talk about how Paul was the good guy in people's eyes and then he gave it all up for God.  Verses 15-21 talk about how we should all follow Paul's example and live for God.

John is written by John and is one of the Gospels.  Chapter 15 has three parts: The Vine and the Branches, The World Hates the Disciples, and The Work of the Holy Spirit.  Verses 1- 8 I am sure you are familiar with.  If not I'll paraphrase it: Basically, God is the Gardener, Jesus is the Vine, and we are the branches.  We have to stay connected to the Vine (Jesus) or the Gardener (God) will discard us.  Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. John 15: 4.  Verses 9-17 can be summed up in one verse:  This is my command: Love each other.  John 15:17.  Verses 18-25 talk about how since we are different from the world, we will be hated and persecuted.  Verses 26 and 27 talk about how the Holy Spirit will help us to testify to others.
