My Year (so far)

Hello!

Sorry for the huge break in posting.  I have been super busy, first with school, and then with VBS and volunteer work  I just wanted to do an update post of sorts so you can see what has been going on in my life this year!

School:
I finished middle school!!! Yay!!!  Now begins high school.......  Since I will be homeschooled through high school, this past semester has been filled with lots of planning for the coming years.

VBS:
Our church VBS this year was a huge success.  We had over 85 kids each day!  It was such an answer to prayer.

Volunteer work:
This summer I am volunteering at our church camp.  My job list includes dishwasher, co-counseler, day camp leader, and craft lady.  :)  Volunteering there has been such a blessing to me, and I truly love it there!

So there is a small snapshot into what has been happening in my life!

What's In My Closet

Do you remember when I did a poll over a year ago?  I came across the results recently.  The post series that won was "What's In My Closet."  I am excited to announce that this series is going live in March!  I will be posting regularly on Mondays and Thursdays with the contents of my closet.  Until then, I will just be posting on Mondays.

Polka Dot Blouse

This spring, I picked up a sleeveless polka dot top that had some really ugly ruffles on the neckline.  Unfortunately, I don't have a "before" picture. I ripped the ruffles off, and sewed the shirt back up. Here is the finished product:

You might have already seen this outfit in one of my ThredUp posts.

ThredUp Cardigans+Belt

Finally, I purchased 3 cardigans and a belt.  I love how cardigans can immediately change a summer t- shirt into a warm winter combination.

I wanted a long black cardigan to wear with some of my outfits.  This was perfect!

ThredUp Tops

My modesty standards for shirts are a little bit harder to pin down. If I am not comfortable bending over wearing them, or if I constantly have to be adjusting them, I probably should not be wearing them.  I also don't wear sleeveless tops.

I wanted another colorful shirt to wear underneath a cardigan, or as a more casual church outfit.
Nautica Short Sleeve T-Shirt
New: $30
I got it for: $5.82

Aqua T-Shirt: ThredUp!
Black Blouse: Goodwill
Pants: Old Navy
This shirt is too tight to wear on its own, but it will work well under one of my sleeveless button-ups or cardigans.
Banana Republic Short Sleeve T-Shirt
New: $37
I got it for: $7.19

Cardigan: Walmart
Shirt: ThredUp!
Pants: Old Navy

A fun print to wear with jeans or a skirt.
Great Northwest Short Sleeve T-Shirt
New: $12
I got it for: $3.42

Cardigan: ThredUp (Post coming soon)
Shirt: ThredUp!
Skirt: ThredUp
Another all ThredUp outfit

What can I say?  I love polka dots.
Old Navy Short Sleeve T-Shirt
New: $10
I got it for: $3.42

Shirt: ThredUp!
Pants: Old Navy

I was excited about this shirt, but when I tried it on, the scoop neck "scooped" a little to low for me.  This is going in my "to return" box.
Apt. 9 Short Sleeve Top
New: $26
I got it for: $5.14
This was a shirt that I thought I would like, but the whole design wasn't very flattering.  Also, it didn't have real sleeves.  This top is going back as well.
H&M Short Sleeve Top
New: $24
I got it for: $4.79

ThredUp Skirts

First up: the five skirts!

Finding modest skirts is really, really hard!  My standard is at least below the knee, when sitting.  However, I have been finding that ankle length skirts are easier to wear, especially when I am singing in the choir, running errands, etc.  So, this order, my goal was to find some skirts that were at least 35 inches long.  I will show you the pictures of the skirts, and also how I plan to wear them this winter.

I love this gray skirt, because it has pockets!  Most skirts don't have pockets, so this was a score.
Gap Casual Skirt Size 6
New: $50
I got it for $6.85!

Cardigan: ThredUp (Post coming soon)
Shirt: Dollar Store
Skirt: ThredUp!

This skirt looked black on the website, but the description said brown, so I ordered it not knowing exactly what I would get.  It turned out to be be a really nice dark brown.
Anne Taylor LOFT Silk Skirt
New: $49.99
I got it for: $9.59!

(Sorry for the bad lighting)

Cardigan: ThredUp (Post coming soon)
Shirt: Goodwill
Skirt: ThredUp!

I love long black skirts.  They are just so versatile.  This was my most expensive item, but it was worth it!
Banana Republic Silk Skirt
New: $148
I got it for: $20.16 (Wow!)

Black T- shirt: ThredUp (Post coming soon)
White Polka Dot Blouse: Goodwill
Skirt: ThredUp!

This skirt is definitely going to be one of my favorite skirts in the summer.  However, it is still warm enough for the winter.
J.jill Casual Skirt
New: $59.00
I got it for: $7.88

Cardigan: ThredUp (Post coming soon)
Shirt: ThredUp
Skirt: ThredUp!
This is an all ThredUp outfit!

I wanted a more colorful skirt to wear, but when it arrived at home, I saw that it had a gigantic slit.  Needless to say, this is going back.
It doesn't quite fit my modesty requirements!
